Winter Light, Gurnarnds Head
Acrylic and jesmonite on panel
30 x 46cm
2010
I painted this picture along the path towards Zennor Head; Pendour Cove is in the foreground. The promontory of Gurnard’s Head is the site of an Iron Age cliff castle and settlement known as Trereen Dinas. The headland is named after the Red Gurnard, a fish that is often caught in the inshore waters around Cornwall.
